St. Mary’s Walk Against Hunger for CAFOD

This Lent, St Mary’s staff and students are taking on CAFOD’s challenge to Walk Against Hunger and raise money to help those at risk of starvation. Did you know that there are nearly 200 million children in the world whose lives are at risk of starvation? Children like Lombeh, who was dangerously malnourished as a baby. Thankfully, CAFOD partners helped her Mum to make a life- changing baby food made with sesame paste and now she is growing big and strong! Just £12 can buy the ingredients for this food and save a child’s life.

We are asking students and staff to walk, run, or cycle 5km a day this Lent to raise money for CAFOD (a total of 200km: 1km for every 1 million children who are hungry in the world today). You can sign up through our website, and put your totals on our chart each day so we can see how you are doing. Everyone who signs up will get a welcome pack including sponsor forms, money collection box, a chart to track your progress and some sweet treats to keep you going. There will also be prizes for those who travel the furthest and raise the most money for this great cause.

Unable to commit to the big challenge? Why don’t you sign up as a team/ form and take it in turns to walk 5k or split the distance between you each day? Or you can sign up for our one off 5k run/ walk after school on Wednesday 30th March. Email dob@st-mary.blackpool.sch.uk to tell us you are coming.

To sign up visit the Chaplaincy section page from the menu above.
